Therm

Therm

A therm is 100,000 Btu. It is used in heating calculations that involve large heat loads. To determine the therm load for a heating installation, divide the total Btu by 10,000.
Example:     the total heat load for an apartment building is 5,050,000 Btu’s. What is the load in therms?

Solution:     5,050,000 divided by 100,000

     Or

5,050,000
100,000               =   50.5  therms
