Hard Drawn Copper Tubing

Hard Drawn Copper Tubing

Hard drawn copper tubing is used extensively in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning applications. Due to its hardness and stiffness, it needs a minimum of clamps or supports, particularly in the larger diameters. This tubing should not be bent. Use straight lengths and fittings to form the necessary tubing design.

Hard drawn tubing should be used with silver brazed fittings. Soft solder should not be used, Fig. 2-1 shows a table of copper tube diameters and thicknesses.

It may be noted that the diameters and thicknesses are the same for both soft and hard
drawn ACR copper tubing. Hard drawn copper tubing is supplied in 20-foot lengths.
